Through choreography, music, and storytelling, “Night Shift” seeks to honor the tireless efforts and profound emotions of mothers, fathers, and caretakers who care for their children throughout the night. The project is focused on the often-overlooked experiences of motherhood during nighttime hours.
Daniel recently gave birth to her second child, which is what sparked the idea for the project. The project aims to raise awareness and empathy for nighttime mothers, creating understanding and support within communities. Through public performances, post-show discussions, and collaborative workshops, “Night Shift” invites audiences to engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and joys of nighttime caregiving.
The performance lasts about 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute discussion.
Daniel about the solo “the night is mysterious and bring its creativity with it…if you ever tried to put a baby to sleep you know it is an ongoing, challenging task that keeps you on your toes…I wanted to bring this experience on stage, to laugh and cry about it together and see the potential of learning from it. Letting go and diving into the frustration, the mother ancient power and the ongoing change and movement in trying to understand the relation with the other.”
