Dansateliers Date Night

Meet new dance makers during Dansateliers Date Night!
On Tuesday, 3 March, Dansateliers presents the very first Dansateliers Date Night. This is your chance to meet the dance makers of tomorrow and learn more about their work and artistic practice. During this edition, you’ll go on a Double Date with Shaquille George and Yoko Haveman. You will experience excerpts of their current work, followed by an in-depth post-show conversation with the makers.
Do we have a date?
A tribute to everything that breaks is an interdisciplinary psycho-dystopian solo performance that confronts the eroticization of violence, inspired by the world of neo-noir anime. Drawing on hyper-stylized bodies and pop-cultural innocence, Yoko Haveman examines hyper-sexualization, power, and isolation through the charged notions of Lolicon and Hikikomori. Moving between subjective ugliness, seduction, and resistance, the body refuses to be fetishized or victimized, emerging instead as an autonomous force.

Phantom Harmony | Shaquille George
Phantom Harmony tells the story of Shaquille’s journey and struggle with their mental health, and the importance of using their artistic perspective to share this experience. Through this work, Shaquille hopes to spark dialogue or open a small window for reflection, inviting people to pause and reflect on themselves and on others around them who may be facing similar struggles.
“My experience with psychosis a few years ago made it difficult to navigate society. Being constantly paranoid and experiencing auditory hallucinations, I lost my grip on reality.” - Shaquille

About the artists
Yoko Haveman is an independent artist: director, maker, and performer, with a tri-cultural background (Brazilian, Japanese, Dutch). Her work investigates the relationship between the body, subcutaneous trauma, and human complexity, operating at the intersection of performance art, dance, and cinematic imagery. A tribute to everything that breaks is an artistic act in which the body withdraws from fixed, systemic roles and reclaims its own agency.
Shaquille George was born and raised in Curaçao and moved to the Netherlands at the age of 18. They began by teaching themselves movement styles rooted in Hip Hop and later earned a BA in Urban Contemporary Dance from Fontys University of the Arts. There, Shaquille learned to blend contemporary dance styles with Hip Hop, further shaping their own distinct movement language.
