The annual Freedom City Festival makes its way from the streets to the theater. Local and international creators, known for their freestyle dance skills on the battle floor, have transformed their artistry into thrilling choreographies and intuitive movements. Hiphop culture is alive in Utrecht, and now it’s taking the stage at Theater Kikker. The Freedom City 8 Festival brings a diverse mix of dance and music, where the raw energy and creativity of the streets meet the refinement of theater.
During the Freedom City Theater Night, we will showcase three performances by established creators and local talents, all rooted in hiphop culture. Coming from different backgrounds and styles, these performers use their art to comment on everyday topics like inequality, balance, and love. Through technical precision and powerful movements, they not only move their own bodies but shift our perspectives as well.

Freedom City returns for its eighth edition during the weekend of June 13-15. As Utrecht’s largest hiphop festival, it takes over venues like TivoliVredenburg, De Helling, Theater Kikker, SSBU, and a club night at Ekko, bringing you the best in dance battles, DJ sets, and live performances.
