Deep Time | Astrid Boons

Through shapeshifting, three performers use natural elements from their new environment to survive. In these transformations, they redefine both their identities and the connections between them. Boons raises an intriguing question: is our ability to adapt finite? And what does this ability to transform and mutate mean for our humanity? Deep Time is a physical journey that invites us to reflect on the evolution of humankind.

Vanishing Acts | Felix Schellekens/Nicole Beutler

Was I ever really there? Or did I exist only briefly in your imagination? Have you already forgotten me?

In Vanishing Acts, Felix Schellekens reflects on those fleeting moments in life that we wish we could hold onto for longer. Everything is destined to disappear—our surroundings change, we change, and everything we try to hold onto inevitably slips through our fingers. How do we learn to embrace the solitude that comes with knowing nothing ever stays the same?

Pressure Point | Vanja Rukavina/Coproducers

In Pressure Point actor and tennis fanatic Vanja Rukavina creates a dream alter ego: Viktor, a world famous tennisplayer who comes face to face with the growing pressure from two cultures. Combining the intense mental pressure that comes with playing tennis and the criticism players with different cultural backgrounds often face to conform to the expectations of the Western public and media.

Vanja: “I often feel like a pawn caught between two worlds. My friends say I’m not Bosnian enough, and my family thinks I’m not Dutch enough. On a good day, I feel enriched by being able to draw from both cultures, but on a bad day, I feel like I don’t truly belong anywhere.”

We all fall! | Danni Cullen/Mezrab House of Creation

Failure, rejection, and vulnerability aren’t often celebrated as essential parts of life. In fact, we tend to bury them beneath layers of shame. We try so hard to get things right… and yet, we often fall flat…

In We all fall! Danni Cullen shines as both a storyteller and clown. Taking on the character of an actress who works as a cleaner she scrubs away the messy stories of others and of her own past. Wether the be joyfull, sorrowful, bring you to tears or make you laugh; she finds that all these stories are all part of the human experience. A reminder that we all fall.

DEAR FRAIL MALE | Just van Bommel / Frascati Producties

In DEAR FRAIL MALE, Just van Bommel tells a personal story about an unexpected ‘encounter’ with a group of boys. Supported by men, Just plunges into these boys’ struggles with their search for an identity, in a society that sees aggression as strength and vulnerability as weakness. As well as a commentary on this outdated, widespread view of masculinity, the performance is a passionate attempt to inspire men to take a step towards emancipation.
