What You See: WHY ARE WE WAITING, WE COULD BE MASTURBATING
Simon(e) van Saarloos

Writer and philosopher Simon(e) van Saarloos presents a lecture performance about their visits to a gender clinic’s waiting room
Waiting is considered useless, signaling either redundancy and waste or luxury and privilege. Access to time is not equally distributed. Some are made to wait a lot, while others get it quick and smooth. Some neighborhoods are deprived of public transportation, some people cannot get access to medical care, some are working to deliver food, while others are impatient for their meal to arrive.
Accompanied by the work of visual artists and trans activism on waiting, they explore waiting not just as an impasse and in-between, before a promise is fulfilled, but as an experience and inhabitation that itself is worth experiencing.
What You See Festival is the performance festival about gender and identity. Here you'll find dance, theater, workshops, and exhibitions from artists from both home and abroad.
With the theme If Not Now, When?! we reflect with the audience on the present time. What You See brings together diverse perspectives and makes space for unheard voices and unique art experiences.
