Silvia Gribaudi returns to What You See! In Suspended Chorus Gribaudi dismantles modern beauty standards through a perfectly concocted mix of humour and compassion, emphasizing both the mortality of the individual as well as the strength of the collective. We’re all in this together.
In the Dutch premiere of her dance solo Suspended Chorus, the Italian choreographer stands unaccompanied on stage but is far from alone. With her unmistakable wit and warmth, she draws the audience into her work, blurring the boundaries between performer and spectator.
Influenced by trailblazing female dance pioneers such as Pina Bausch, Isadora Duncan, and Anna Pavlova, Gribaudi explores the limits and possibilities of her 50+ year-old body.
Co-produced by What You See Festival.
Warning: One scene contains flashing lights. The scene lasts 1 minute, with low-frequency flashes.
"Suspended Chorus is a subtle invitation to appreciate and celebrate a dancing body, and the vulnerability it shares builds a chorus of other bodies. "
