Part 1: Original Sin

Two human birds of paradise, one meet cute. 

Look at them, firing shots at gravity. They are the apple and the snake, but most of all they are the people (neither the first nor the last) to fight the laws of the universe: everything that comes up must come down. 

In Original Sin we see two dancers on a swing. Our contemporary Adam and Eve, gardeners of Eden: charismatic, romantic, and completely themselves. But also hungry for meaning and attention. In 21 physical scenes, interwoven with 21 piano pieces by Reinout Scholten van Aschat, we see the pair not only play with each other, but also playing each other. A duet about vanity, guilt, and gravity. 

Inspired by Simone Weil’s On Gravity and Grace and Milan Kundera’s Laughable Loves, the makers of Original Sin let themselves be guided by the tragedy of gravity.
