What You See: NOS BIDA X FREEDOM IS A DANCER: A MEETING OF TWO
Shaquille George & Vincenzo Turiano

Two dance makers, each pushing the boundaries of choreography in their own fluid way, meet! Each presents a work-in-progress, followed by a dialogue between them.
Nos Bida (Our Life in Papiamento) (2027) began as a solo performance created by Shaquille George. Shaquille started creating from their thesis research on the exploration of visibility and perception of Black contemporary dancers within the broader dance field. Now Nos Bida has grown into a project with the focus of the powerful cultural legacy that ancestry leaves us with.

Freedom Is a Dancer – First Glance | Vincenzo Turiano
Vincenzo Turiano danced with various major dance companies for thirteen years. They always performed in the male role but had to increasingly suppress parts of themselves to fit that role. Now, they are forging their own path outside a (classical) dance world that has for centuries been rigidly divided into male and female roles. Together with dancers Diede Vermeesch and Qiyung Zheng, they showcase the joy of non-conformity.

What You See Festival is the performance festival about gender and identity. Here you'll find dance, theater, workshops, and exhibitions from artists from both home and abroad.
With the theme If Not Now, When?! we reflect with the audience on the present time. What You See brings together diverse perspectives and makes space for unheard voices and unique art experiences.
