Storytelling Tuesday: My Brother's keeper

In their brand-new work My Brother’s Keeper, all these themes come together through the primal story of the origins of human violence: the story of Cain and Abel. In times of increasing polarisation and international hostility, Sahand and Raphael return to the fundamental question: Why would a brother turn against his own flesh and blood?

Through a combination of storytelling and theatre and music, the actors narrate and retell the classic biblical story, traversing history, and come to recognize the Cain and Abel within themselves and one another.

As perspectives shift, the roles are constantly reversed. Can the story itself be inverted? Can two strangers rediscover the brother within each other?

Raphael Rodan Israeli-born theatre-maker and storyteller based in the NL. Trained at the School of Speech and Drama  (Harduf) and the Actors Temple in London. Known for merging personal and mythic storytelling to bridge divided identities.

Sahand Sahebdivani Dutch-Iranian storyteller, founder of Mezrab House of Stories in Amsterdam. His work explores exile, heritage and collective memory.
