That which is untamable: criatura | Melisa Diktaş
Even from ashes a flower can emerge. A 'mother' who nonetheless lives outside linear time. Representing immortality. Representing eternal existence. Every Saturday the Mesopotamian mothers, as well as every Thursday the Latin American mothers, come together from grief and resistance to make the fate of their children, disappeared by regimes, visible. Their courage and sorrow for loss provide an untouchable strength. Through deep singing Cante Jondo and Dengbêjî—a raw cry of the soul and inspiration from the book *The Untamed Woman* by Clarissa Pinkola with mythical forms such as La Loba; the woman who gathers the bones of the dead with her voice, and the frequencies of the drum, the dahul—Melisa embodies the journey of grief; what we encounter and how it keeps us alive.
Experience the power of survival and expression from Melisa Diktaş. An immersive solo performance that embodies the essence of struggle, survival, and resilience. An endless battle, portrayed by an untamed being, wrapped in the rhythms of the dahul, the drum that moves the ground.
